Another day, another shampoo bar review. I can’t seem to stop trying out different bars for you all! Swapping out your shampoo and conditioner is one of the easiest sustainable swaps you can make; if you haven’t done this already I would highly recommend doing so. Today, I will be sharing my thoughts on Kitsch’s Tea Tree & Mint clarifying solid shampoo (my first ever Kitsch bar!). Let’s jump into the Kitsch clarifying shampoo bar review…

What I Love about This Shampoo Bar:

Right off the bat, Kitsch’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the packaging of their clarifying shampoo bar. The product comes in minimal, plastic-free packaging that is both recyclable and biodegradable. The bar itself is a solid, concentrated form of shampoo, which inherently reduces waste by eliminating the need for plastic bottles. I love that their shampoos look like an “S” and their conditioners look like a “C”. While I don’t think the company is fully into selling only sustainable products, they do try to reduce their impact with their shampoo bars!

The clarifying shampoo bar from Kitsch is designed for those with tricky scalps (to remove build-up from hair products, oils, and environmental pollutants). It’s suitable for all hair types but especially beneficial for those who have oily hair. I tend to have more oily locks and found this to be comparable to Lush’s Jumping Juniper shampoo bar. After rinsing, my hair felt thoroughly cleansed without feeling stripped.

Kitsch’s shampoo bars are formulated with natural ingredients that are gentle on the hair and scalp. In addition, they are made in the USA! The key ingredient for this bar includes tea tree oil, known for its detoxifying and antimicrobial properties. While some of the ingredients in the bar are a little suspicious (“natural fragrance”?), this isn’t any different from Lush’s shampoo bars.

What Could Be Better:

Like with all reviews on this blog, let’s talk about price. One of the great benefits of shampoo bars is their longevity. Kitsch’s shampoo bar lasts approximately 50-75 washes, equivalent to 2-3 bottles of liquid shampoo. One bar will cost you $26 which is definitely on the high end for shampoo bars (Lush prices most of theirs around the $16 mark).

I personally don’t see this as an everyday bar. It works great at clarifying the hair, but I wouldn’t want to use it every shower as I found that my hair did get dry after using it every wash. For my hair personally, I would use this as a hair treatment once a week (or twice a week) to keep my scalp nice and fresh! In addition, while it does lather, it doesn’t lather as easily as Lush bars. Something to keep in mind if that is important to you.

Kitsch’s clarifying shampoo bar is another sustainable haircare product for those interested in a nice scalp treatment. The tea tree and mint scent is subtle and reminds me of a spa – perfect for a relaxing shower. While it is on the higher end of price, it is a more eco-friendly option than traditional shampoos. Have you made the switch yet?? What shampoo bar do you use??

Love,
Jenna ♥
